The Wilmington Police Department chose LDV to create their new massive 40' mobile command center. Built on a Freightliner M2 conventional cab chassis it includes a 350HP engine and Allison 3000 EVS automatic transmission with PTO provision. A vehicle automation system has been integrated to control features such as the four flat-floor slide-outs which increase interior space, awnings, HVAC systems, generators, and other systems as well as automating startup and shutdown procedures.
The interior features a conference area with seating for six, a magnetic dry erase board for planning, custom-fabricated aluminum cabinets for storage and a 55" SMART display. The rear features four workstations with complete connectivity, 40" LED Smart HDTV. The center section features network rack, additional storage, and a galley with mini-fridge and microwave. FRP covered pocket doors provide separation when needed between the different areas of the vehicle. Custom closets feature aluminum box pan shelves for equipment storage. Solid surface countertops have been installed for added durability.
The exterior features a generous awning to provide cover above the curbside entry door with pull-out aluminum steps in a narrow profile cassette and the exterior workstation. The weatherproof exterior workstation houses a 40" UHD 4K HDR LED Smart HDTV, dual power outlet/USB charger, CAT6 network jacks, and flip-down work surface. A swing out and down ladder provides access to the roof when needed. To ensure the vehicle sits level at a scene, a heavy-duty four point fully automatic one-touch leveling system has been installed as well. A heavy-duty non-locking telescoping pneumatic mast with cameras provides the department the ability to survey their surroundings. When electric power needs to be supplied to the vehicle, Wilmington can utilize the 25-kW liquid-cooled diesel generator mounted in a custom-fabricated compartment.
