The West Bloomfield Police Department chose a 16ft. Ford F59 chassis for their new SWAT vehicle. The truck features a 6.8L Triton V10 gasoline engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle is an all aluminum body with driver and passenger side doors with sliding window.
Inside, the SWAT truck has custom fabricated fixed bench seating with removable cushions for additional storage, a stowable rear conference area table, custom fabricated aluminum cabinets for storage with dry erase writing surfaces, ceiling-mounted grab handles for staff, four magnetic dry erase white boards, roll up storage compartments with aluminum box pan shelves with custom texturized powder coat and more. There is night time "red" lighting inside the vehicle.
HVAC is handled via 13,500 BTU low profile rooftop A/C unit with thermostat and a 13,650 BTU gasoline-fired furnace with individual thermostat control. Electric power is supplied via 7kW generator housed within a custom-fabricated generator housing. A complete emergency lighting and siren package were integrated into the vehicle as well.
