Wayne County Sheriff (NC) Mobile Command Center

VEHICLE OVERVIEW

The Wayne County Sheriff in North Carolina recently took delivery of this new mobile command center. The vehicle is built on a Freightliner M2 106 conventional cab chassis and features air ride suspension and air brakes. The truck is powered by a Cummins L9 350EV HP diesel engine with an Allison 3000 EVS automatic transmission with PTO provision. We hand fabricated four flat-floor slide-outs to maximize the interior space and simplified the deployment of the truck with our Intel-I-Touch™ vehicle automation system. Extreme Duty body storage compartments have also been added for gear. A weatherproof exterior monitor compartment has been installed to house a 55" high resolution display monitor. A non-locking telescoping rear mast has been added with dome network IP cameras for surveillance. A pull out aluminum stair cassette has been added for entry into the vehicle. A complete emergency lighting and siren package has been installed along with bright LED scene lighting for night operations.

Inside, the mobile command center has a front conference room with fixed collaboration table and six spider base task chairs for staff. Flip down bench seating has also been added. A corner workstation is also included. A large 75" high resolution display monitor has been installed on the front interior wall. An HDMI matrix switcher has been installed to distribute video to any of the installed monitors throughout the vehicle. Magnetic surface dry erase white boards are also part of the interior. Counter tops are solid surface throughout. A multi-function printer on a slide-out tray is also included.

The center of the vehicle is home to dual electronics racks. All of the installed equipment is protected by a full vehicle surge suppression system. A galley with microwave, refrigerator, and Keurig™ coffee maker are also included in the center area. Large storage cabinetry provide room for gear. A hand sanitizer dispenser is also included.

The rear room has corner workstations and a stowable center table.

Five ducted low profile rooftop A/C units keep the interior cool during the summer. A powerful 25kW liquid cooled diesel generator has been installed to supply plenty of electric power to the vehicle. A Winegard automatic satellite system has been installed on the vehicle as well. We prewired the vehicle and installed the customer supplied communications radios. Zetron CommandIQ dispatch consoles (6) have been installed in the vehicle as well.

"I was very satisfied with the whole experience and process. I believe that the sales personnel and technicians are very knowledgeable and have years of institutional knowledge that shows in the execution of the unit. My questions were all ways answered immediately and if there was any reach back for additional confirmation it was always followed up with a phone call and email. The open lines of communication provided both of us the full awareness of where we were in the build process and helped eliminate unnecessary delays or unanswered questions. Everyone I encountered during my visits were always smiling and happy while working, which was great to see and experience. This is reflected in the finished product that was noticed by my staff and all others that have visited to see the new addition to our fleet."
