Viking Library System (MN) Bookmobile

Viking Library System's bookmobile is packed with fun features! Built on a Freightliner M2 chassis with a 22ft. all aluminum dry van body, this custom bookmobile features a Cummins B6.7L 260hp diesel engine with an Allison 2500HS automatic transmission and dual curbside self-close entry doors with upper and lower windows for safety. Inside, you'll find custom powder coated modular aluminum Acore® bookshelves with 15° slantback, front and rear help/check-out desks and a custom hardwood literature rack. Overhead storage cabinets are custom aluminum with dry erase writing surfaces on the doors. There is also a custom made dry erase white board at the front workstation.

Additional features inside the Viking Library System's new bookmobile include: Front and rear counter top surfaces are laminate for durability. The customer selected pencil drawers to be installed under each work top for convenience. Electric power is supplied by the Onan Commercial Quiet 8kW generator housed in a custom fabricated generator housing. Supplemental electric power is provided by four 170-watt solar panels. Dual low profile rooftop A/C units with wall-mounted thermostat handle the cooling duties inside the bookmobile while dual furnaces handle the heating in the winter months. The entire electrical system is protected by a full-vehicle surge suppressor. Two 15.6" high resolution monitors were installed to display messaging at the check-out desks. Onboard WiFi is handled by a Cradlepoint 4G LTE Gateway.
