The VA of Palo Alto chose a Freightliner MT-55 forward control chassis for their new four-room mobile medical unit. The vehicle features a 300HP Cummins diesel engine paired with an Allison 2500 EVS automatic transmission. The all aluminum body construction includes 2 LDV-built flat floor, slide-out rooms that are extra deep for maximum interior space, a Braun UVL series wheelchair lift with handheld controller with a custom 44" x 68" aluminum sedan door, custom fabricated, self-adjusting to uneven ground, mini-pull aluminum steps and exterior storage compartments. Inside, this telehealth-ready vehicle has two patient areas complete with exam room tables, fixed bench seating with removable cushions and seat belts for medical staff, a triage area with medical testing equipment, a galley kitchen area with microwave and dual refrigerators: one for personal items and one for medical, a lavatory complete with shower, pressurized water system and more. HVAC is handled via 3 ducted low profile A/C units controlled via thermostat and 3 wall-mounted electric heaters. Electric power is supplied by an Onan Commercial Quiet Series 12kW generator.
