USGS had LDV create their own mobile field laboratory! Built on a Ford Transit T250 cutaway chassis, this vehicle boasts a 3.7L V6 gas engine and 6-speed automatic transmission. USGS opted to use the T250 upgrade package as well, which includes trailer wiring provisions and brake controllers, a heavy-duty alternator, and back-up parking sensors.
The inside has a heavy-duty rubber floor covering to combat heavy usage. Four dark slider windows with screens have been added throughout the vehicle to provide natural light. A stainless steel galley sink drains to a curbside waste tank. For added durability, solid surface countertops have been used on all counter space.
On the back of the vehicle, a full width aluminum gripstrut bumper provides a step to enter through the rear entry door. A translucent one-piece roof gives the vehicle a more open feeling. Eight 12 volt outlets can be found throughout the vehicle as well. For additional exterior storage, two horizontal and one vertical utility-style bed access compartments have been added to each side of the vehicle. To finish it off, an emergency lights package has been added for visibility when traveling to a scene.
