Several years ago, the US Marshals contracted with two custom vehicle vendors to produce a total of three mobile command vehicles: One large vehicle and two smaller units. LDV built the larger of three vehicles which can be found
HERE. Our engineers worked extensively with the US Marshals to ensure the vehicle could be loaded and transported via cargo plane. We recently completed a technology retrofit on the vehicle last year. The US Marshals have two of these mobile command centers in service which were built by a different company initially. We just completed an extensive retrofit on this first vehicle including a complete removal and disposal of the interior, all the wiring and hvac system. The dark and dimly lit interior wasn't very functional.
"We found questionable splices and other terminations behind the interior walls. Also, outlets were hidden behind some of the interior walls to plug in the monitors. We made the determination quickly that the whole interior needed to come out," said LDV Vice President of New Business Development, Ed Cook.
