University of Kentucky Police (KY) Mobile Command Center

VEHICLE OVERVIEW

The University of Kentucky Police chose an LDV stock series vehicle for their new mobile command center. Built on a Ford F59 stripped chassis, it is powered by a 6.8L 3V SOHC EFI Triton V10 gas engine, a 5-Speed TorqShift automatic transmission with OD, and an upgrade to a spring rear suspension. This vehicle features an industry-exclusive flat-floor slide-out room extension at the front of the vehicle, expanding the space in the front conference area. Controlling the slide-out is LDV's Intel-I-Touch™ vehicle automation system which also controls features and systems such as HVAC, vehicle leveling, generators, lighting, and more. Inside, the front conference area features a fixed conference table with folding leaf for additional table space, two spider-base task chairs, a monitor, and framed whiteboard. A 50" QLED 4K UHD Smart HDTV monitor has been mounted to the driver side of the vehicle above fixed bench seating with removable cushions for additional storage space. On the passenger side is another 50" QLED 4K UHD Smart HDTV monitor above flip-down bench seating for extra seating. The center of the vehicle features custom-fabricated aluminum cabinets, a slide-out tray for easy access to a customer-supplied printer, and the galley kitchen area. This area consists of a 2.7 cu.ft. refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. Laminate countertops have been used throughout the vehicle for durability. At the rear of the vehicle are four workstations featuring overhead cabinets with dry erase writing surfaces, RJ-45 Cat6 computer network jacks, and spider-base task chairs. Pre-wire and installation provisions will be made for customer-supplied communications radios as well. A 32" LED TV monitor sits between the two workstations on the curb side of the vehicle. There are two points of access to the vehicle, one being the passenger side door and a rear door with a flip-down step installed for easy access. HVAC is handled by two Coleman Mach 8 low-profile air conditioners and two Broan wall mount 5,120 Btu/hr electric heaters. A 15-kW liquid-cooled diesel generator has been installed in its own custom-fabricated compartment. Pre-wire and installation provisions have been made for a customer-installed 25' mast. The vehicle lighting also includes Night Time and Reduced lighting modes for use during night operations. LDV recently completed its retrofit of more features for the University of Kentucky Police. These additional features include a weatherproof exterior workstation, an HD commercial satellite receiver, and a manual horizontal arm awning among others to make this vehicle customized to their needs.

"I was very satisfied with the whole experience and process. I believe that the sales personnel and technicians are very knowledgeable and have years of institutional knowledge that shows in the execution of the unit. My questions were all ways answered immediately and if there was any reach back for additional confirmation it was always followed up with a phone call and email. The open lines of communication provided both of us the full awareness of where we were in the build process and helped eliminate unnecessary delays or unanswered questions. Everyone I encountered during my visits were always smiling and happy while working, which was great to see and experience. This is reflected in the finished product that was noticed by my staff and all others that have visited to see the new addition to our fleet."
