Tybee Island Police Department Mobile Command Center

Tybee Island, GA chose a Ford F-550 regular cab 2WD diesel truck chassis for their new mobile command center. The vehicle is powered by a 6.7L Powerstroke turbo diesel and a 6-speed Torqshift automatic with overdrive. The body is an 18ft. long custom all aluminum dry van body and includes and custom-fabricated 30" wide aluminum flip-down step mounted to the rear bumper for rear-vehicle access. The body also features a 36" wide horizontal sliding egress window. Inside, the vehicle features a galley kitchen area complete with a microwave, refrigerator and a Keurig™ coffee maker. Two pneumatic task chairs provide seating for interior workstations. Fixed bench seating with removable cushions were fabricated in the rear conference room which also provide storage for the stowable conference table. A 32" LED smart TV and a 43" 4K LED ROKU smart TV were included. Custom fabricated aluminum cabinets provide ample storage and the overhead cabinet doors are dry erase writing surfaces. Two large dry erase boards were also installed. Countertops throughout are laminate for durability. HVAC is handled by 2 low-profile, 13,500BTU rooftop A/C units and two 5,120BTU electric heaters. Electric power is supplied via 15kW liquid-cooled diesel generator installed within a custom-fabricated generator compartment. On the outside of the vehicle, two telescoping light poles with 75W LED bulbs light-up the exterior surroundings. A Dometic electric awning with wind-sensing technology is added for shade. Several exterior storage compartments were built-into the body of the vehicle as well. On the roof, a DirecTV satellite was installed along with an antenna satellite system. On the rear of the vehicle, a telescoping pneumatic mast with perimeter cameras was integrated to the body.
