Tippecanoe County (IN) needed a mobile medical lab for their area. LDV built this medical vehicle on a Ford E-450 Super Duty commercial cutaway chassis featuring a 6.8L EFI Triton V10 engine and 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive.
The front of the vehicle features a control panel for the lights, generator, and HVAC. A counter with custom-fabricated cabinets above and below provides additional space for equipment. There is also a galley area with pressurized sink and custom cabinets next to a lavatory. The lavatory includes an electric waterless toilet, wall-mounted sanitary wipes dispenser, mirror, and waste basket. A specimen door provides access to samples from the bathroom into the galley-area cabinet for storage. Custom-fabricated flip-down bench seating is also found in the front for patients to wait.
The rear features a blood draw area with two Brewer blood draw chairs, 2.9 cu. ft. medical refrigerator and freezer, custom-fabricated cabinets with dry erase surfaces, and laminate countertops for durability. A rear entry door with manual step provides easy entry to the blood draw area. An FRP covered pocket door on a heavy-duty aluminum track creates privacy when needed.
On the exterior are dual curbside entry doors with manual steps. A 7kW generator is housed in a custom-fabricated generator compartment. Scene lights have been added around the perimeter of the vehicle. To assist with parking duties, a color backup camera system has been added. HVAC is handled by two low-profile air conditioners, one wall mount 5,120 Btu/hr electric heater, and a 7,500 BTU direct discharge gasoline-fired furnace.
