The Surprise Police Department (AZ) chose a Freightliner M2 conventional cab as the platform for their new mobile command center. The vehicle is powered by a Cummins 350HP engine and also features an Allison 3000 EVS automatic transmission with PTO provision. Four industry-exclusive flat-floor slide-outs have been integrated into the vehicle's body, providing Surprise PD the ability to increase the interior space fo their mobile command center. These flat-floor slide-outs are controlled by LDV's Intel-I-Touch™ vehicle automation system which also assists with startup and shutdown procedures.
Inside, the vehicle is broken up into three sections. The front area includes a large monitor, fixed conference table and two workstations. Flip-down bench seating provides additional seating as well as a place to stow two of the spider base task chairs when not in use at the conference table. The two workstations feature custom-fabricated cabinets, monitors, and network connections. In the center of the vehicle is a galley kitchen with microwave, coffee maker, and refrigerator. A generous electronics rack sits next to a large framed white board as well. The rear of the vehicle features two workstations as well as a triple pedestal removable table with two spider base chairs and another fixed table with two spider base chairs and a fold-down section. When folded up, the large fold-down section can be used in conjunction with the triple pedestal removable table to make another large conference table that can accommodate six chairs. Custom overhead cabinets, multiple monitors, and network connections can also be found in this rear work area. Affixed to the wall by the rear entry door is a magnetic microphone holder as well.
The exterior of this vehicle features a heavy-duty, non-locking telescoping pneumatic mast with network cameras. For staff working outside the vehicle, a weatherproof exterior workstation has been integrated into the body. This includes a monitor, mini Intel-I-Touch pad, RJ-45 CAT6 network jacks, and GFCI duplex receptacle. A roof access ladder provides a way to the rooftop and includes an additional step on the bumper for access to the ladder. Providing coverage for those utilizing the weatherproof exterior workstation or the curbside access door is a generous awning with motion/wind sensors and LED lighting in the outer awning rail. To ensure the vehicle is level when at a scene, a heavy-duty four point leveling system has been installed. A complete emergency lights and siren package finishes off the exterior and creating high-visibility when traveling to a scene.
