The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department selected LDV to create their mobile laboratory. This vehicle is built on a Ford Commercial Cutaway E-450 Super Duty chassis. It includes a 6.8L EFI Triton V10 engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive.
The rear features two workstations including a task chair, custom-fabricated cabinets with dry erase space, and an HP All-in-One printer, copier, fax, and scanner. A 32” Smart HDTV monitor sits between both stations. A stowable double pedestal conference table can also be set up in this work area with fixed bench seating providing additional spots to sit as well. Aluminum framed magnetic dry erase boards have been integrated for easy collaborative work. At the front of the vehicle are additional custom-fabricated aluminum cabinets for storage. In the control panel, a multiplex system has also been integrated for easy startup and shutdown of certain vehicle systems.
On the exterior, a 30” Diamondback extruded aluminum grating flip-down step has been added to the rear bumper. A custom-fabricated stainless steel handrail has also been added by the entry step for added safety. There are multiple underbody storage compartments for additional exterior storage. For high visibility when traveling to a scene, an emergency lights and siren package has been integrated. Four telescoping light poles provide additional light while at a scene, especially at night. To cover the curbside entrance in inclement weather or to shade the staff working outside, an electric awning has been installed. To assist with parking duties, a color backup camera system has been added. A 7kW 120 volt AC generator provides electric power to the vehicle when needed.
