The St. Paul Police Department chose a 26ft. Freightliner M2 conventional crew cab for their new bomb disposal vehicle. The truck is powered by a 350HP Cummins diesel engine and has a 37,600lb GVWR. The all aluminum body includes one LDV-fabricated flat-floor slide-out room, a 48" wide robot access door with ramp and a crawl-through access into the crew cab. The truck has curb-side access, a retractable power awning and one weatherproof exterior workstation with display monitor, power outlets and network jacks.
Inside, custom fabricated aluminum cabinets and shelves provide ample storage capacity and room for the bomb disposal robot and associated gear in the rear of the truck. Dual low profile A/C units are installed on the roof of the truck as well as 3 direct discharge diesel-fired furnaces for heating. Electric power is supplied by a 12kW generator installed in a custom fabricated housing in the body. A complete emergency lighting and siren package is installed on the outside of the vehicle.
