Scales Mound Fire Department Dive Team Response Unit

This dive team vehicle is equipped with a number of smart customizations. Built on a Freightliner MT-55 forward control chassis, the vehicle includes a 260HP engine and Allison 2500EVS heavy-duty 5-speed automatic transmission.

The interior features a full galley with plumbed water, water heater, coffee maker, microwave, and refrigerator for staff convenience. The front area features custom-fabricated aluminum cabinets, a flip-up desk surface at the workstation area, and fixed bench seating with removable cushions to store a stowable conference table. For added staff convenience, a lavatory with shower and toilet have been installed inside. Custom closets for wet suits have been added with floor drains for proper drainage. A cascade system for dive bottles completes with well-designed dive truck.

A custom ladder provides access to a rooftop observation deck with embossed aluminum tread plate flooring and a fold-down OSHA compliant aluminum perimeter railing. For rear entry into the vehicle, a rear swing door has been added with a flip-down entry step installed on the bumper. Removable magnetic porcelain marker boards can be affixed to the vehicle when staff need to work outside. Multiple exterior storage compartments provide additional storage space. A 16’ solid color awning includes solid privacy panels to add when additional privacy is needed. When backboard equipment is required, a box pan door and door frame have been added to access the needed equipment. A surface mounted light tower has also been added to help illuminate a scene during night operations.
