LDV designed this SWAT truck with the San Francisco Sheriff’s department on a Ford F59 with a 18' long all aluminum step van body. This vehicle features a Triton 6.8L V10 engine and 5-speed TorqShift automatic transmission with overdrive and tow/haul mode.
The interior space features fixed bench seating with removable cushions in the rear by the dual rear exit doors for at least 6 personnel. A custom storage solution for weapons, equipment and shield items. This vehicle was also prewired for customer-supplied radios. Interior day/night lighting aids in night operations when needed. A custom weapons storage space includes custom roll-up doors for storing the department’s weapons. Cargo webbing with buckles provides an additional way to keep equipment in the other storage areas safe.
The exterior of the vehicle features reflective striping, customer supplied shields and seals and non-reflective lettering. To protect those working outside, a 16’ awning has been installed on the curb side of the vehicle. Dual rear entry doors provide an additional access point while a 30” wide flip-down step has been added to the rear bumper for easy entry. A magnetic marker board can be added and removed for staff working outside as well. Emergency lighting and a color backup camera system have been added to the exterior as well.
