The San Bernardino Police Department (CA) took delivery of their new mobile command center. Built on a Freightliner MT-55 forward control chassis, the vehicle is powered by a Cummins 300EV HP engine and Allison EVS automatic transmission with PTO provision. LDV'S exclusive Intel-I-Touch™ vehicle automation system aids in deploying the two industry-exclusive flat-floor slide-outs, generator, lights, and other vehicle features.
The front of the vehicle features a conference area with a fixed conference table, six spider base chairs, a framed dry erase board, and a 43" LED TV. There is also flip-down bench seating which aids in stowing the spider base chairs when not in use. A galley kitchen is found in the center of the vehicle and includes a microwave, coffee maker, and refrigerator. It also features custom-fabricated cabinets, a slide-out tray for a printer/copier/scanner, and a custom-fabricated mounting system for an electronics rack. In the rear of the vehicle is a work area with two spider base chairs, a communications radio, 24" monitor, and custom-fabricated cabinets. Different pre-wire and installation provisions have been made for customer-installed features including a DSS/satellite broadband system, a 25' mast, and cellular router. The vehicle also includes a host of CAT6 network connections along with GFCI duplex receptacles, 20A-125Vac duplex receptacles, a Marinco 50A-125/250Vac shore power package, and a Kussmaul auto-eject shore power inlet.
On the exterior is a 15" wide roof access ladder providing access to the roof when needed for maintenance. There is also a 30" flip-down step with Diamondback open grating to provide access to the rear entry door. A 12-kW generator provides power to the vehicle and has been installed in its own custom all-aluminum compartment. Emergency lights and sirens have been integrated into the exterior as well for high visibility when traveling and at a scene. HVAC is handled by two low-profile air conditioner units to help keep the vehicle cool in the warm California weather. To assist with parking duties, a color back-up camera system has been installed.
