Salt River Police Department selected a Freightliner M2 106 conventional cab chassis tandem rear axle for their new mobile command center. The vehicle features a Cummins L9 350HP diesel engine with an Allison 3000EVS automatic transmission and extra heavy duty rear air suspension. We custom fabricated three flat-floor slide-outs to integrate into the all aluminum body; one slide-out is massive which spans nearly the entire streetside of the body. Simple set up and shut down of the vehicle is handled by dual Intel-I-Touch™ vehicle automation touchscreens: one in the cab of the truck and another at the rear entry door. Stabilization of the vehicle on-scene is courtesy of a vehicle leveling system. We also custom fabricated extreme duty body storage compartments for Salt River's gear and equipment. A non-locking pneumatic telescoping mast was installed on the rear of the vehicle which has a dome network IP surveillance camera system complete with look-up light. There is also a telescoping LED light tower for night operations.
Entry into the vehicle is through a rear entry door with custom pull-out aluminum stairs which are stowed in a thin compartment under the door. Once inside the vehicle, there is a lavatory with pressurized water supply system, galley kitchen with refrigerator, microwave and sink, custom solid surface counter tops and aluminum cabinetry for gear storage. Overhead cabinets have undercabinet LED lighting as well. There is a gun safe for safe pistol storage. Dual electronics racks house all of the equipment with roof for future integration. The center of the vehicle is home to workstations with 400lb. capacity spider base task chairs and dual monitors. Custom magnetic closure pocket doors allow each area of the vehicle to be segregated as needed for privacy. The front room in the interior is a collaboration room with stowable task chairs and custom flip-down bench seats. Magnetic dry erase white boards were also included in the front conference room.
A 25kW liquid-cooled diesel generator was selected to power the vehicle. A complete vehicle surge suppression system protects all electric items. Four low-profile ducted rooftop A/C units keep the vehicle cool in the Arizona heat. HVAC is controlled via thermostat. A complete emergency lighting and siren package was also installed on the truck. Controls are installed in a custom console in the cab area.
