Salinas Public Library of California recently took delivery of their new custom bookmobile! Built on a Ford F59 chassis with a 7.3L V8 engine (gasoline) with a 6-speed TorqShift automatic transmission. Their vehicle comes equipped with an all aluminum body with an exterior monitor compartment with 50" 4K Smart TV and a 2.1 channel soundbar. We also installed a generous awning to provide shade. Entry into the bookmobile is through dual self-closing curbside entry doors. We also integrated a swing out rear door for the Braun electric pneumatic wheelchair lift. Front seats are upgraded Bostrom Wide-Ride that swivel 180 degrees to be used at the check out desk. A full vehicle colorful wrap was also installed.
Inside, the bookmobile has custom powder coated bookshelves with a 15-degree slantback to secure materials during transport. Four Acore wall hugger booktrucks are included. We installed custom fixed bench seats with removable cushions for storage along the aisles for patrons. Custom powder coated aluminum cabinets with dry erase writing surface on the overhead cabinets provide storage. A rear closet is also included. LED courtesy lights are installed at the entry doors. There is an AM/FM Bluetooth stereo with 6x9 speakers as well as a PA system with wireless microphone with ducking module. Exterior speakers have also been installed. A color backup camera system has also been installed to aid with parking maneuvers. A galley area with 1.1 cu. ft. microwave is included. We also installed a Sony Blu-Ray disc player for media. There is also an HDTV antenna installed.
The HVAC system includes dual low profile rooftop A/C units with wall thermostat and a direct discharge furnace. An Onan 7kW diesel generator supplies the electric power and a full vehicle surge suppression system protects all of the installed electrical equipment.
