Ronald Giddens’s 22ft. Kenworth Elite T280 Tool Truck

Ronald Giddens’s new tool truck was built on a 22ft. Kenworth Elite T280. It is powered by a PACCAR PX-7 engine and Allison 2500 HS transmission along with air brakes and an air suspension. This all-aluminum construction also features a setback entry door with a fixed window, aluminum weather resistant storage box, single rear swing door, and a 2,000lb. all-aluminum lift gate with flip extension with integrated cart stop and auto open/close feature.

Inside, light grey slatwall is used throughout which is a great way to easily reconfigure any displays as inventory needs evolve. The ceiling features white pegboard with lacing and magnetic strips for extra inventory display. At the ColorCore L-shaped workstation, there is an aluminum printer shelf, lockable metal cash drawer, 24″ wide drawer stack, trash can, and an LED lighted angled knife display facing the aisle. Other displays inside the vehicle feature a carpeted straight hammer display, black socket center, pry bar display, an air tool ladder, and slatwall diagnostic cradles. A compressed air test line has also been installed for testing air tools on the vehicle.

For convenience, a 1.7 cu.ft. dual voltage refrigerator has been installed. A positive/negative test panel, battery combiner, and six 6-volt batteries mounted on a slide out tray have also been integrated to the vehicle. HVAC is handled by 53,000 BTU engine driven air conditioner and a 12,000 BTU diesel fired furnace. A color back-up camera system, side view camera, and interior DVR camera system all assist with keeping the vehicle secure.
