Rochester Hills chose a Freightliner M2 conventional cab, single rear axle chassis for their new equipment vehicle. The truck is powered by a Cummins B6.7 260HP diesel engine and has an Allison 2500RDS automation transmission. The truck features a 16ft. dry van body with custom fabricated body storage compartments and a roll up equipment door on the curbside. The compartment on the street side features a slide-out tray for gear access. Entry into the vehicle is by custom two-step aluminum rear bumper. We installed two cord reels to the front compartment on the curbside: one 50ft. 1/2" air hose and one 50ft. 12/3 electrical extension cord. There are bright LED scene lights on the exterior as well as amber emergency flashers. An nForce™ exterior traffic controller with directional traffic arrow was also installed.
Inside the vehicle, there are custom aluminum cabinets and drawers for storage with adjustable aluminum box pan shelves (7) and two hand-oiled butcher block counter tops for work surfaces. We also installed a heavy duty vise. HVAC duties are handled by a 35,000BTU engine coolant heat exchanger and a 12-volt roof-mounted fan.
