The Rhode Island State Police enlisted LDV to create their mobile crime lab. This vehicle is packed with features which enable their team to conduct testing as if they were in a brick-and-mortar lab.
The interior features dual aluminum roll-up doors that house aluminum shelving for equipment. Two workstations are found at the front of the vehicle that includes a 26” flat panel series LCD HDTV monitor and network jacks. A Safe Fume automatic fuming chamber and Mystaire workstation sits next to the workstation to conduct various lab tests with. Blackout curtains provide additional privacy and darkness while conducting tests. Custom-fabricated aluminum cabinets have been installed throughout the vehicle for more storage space. For durability, stainless steel countertops are used to hold up even with the heaviest of use.
On the exterior, a fold out ladder provides access to the rooftop collapsible observation deck railing on the vehicle. A flip-down step on the rear bumper provides easy entry through the dual rear doors. To provide cover over the curbside entry door, an electric awning has been integrated to the vehicle's body. Emergency lights provide visibility when traveling to a scene while scene lighting illuminates the work area for staff.
