Built on a Ford Commercial Cutaway E-450 Super Duty chassis, this library outreach vehicle/bookmobile features a 7.3L gas engine, 6-speed automatic transmission and no CDL-required to operate. The all aluminum dry van body features a full color graphics wrap with the library's branding. An electric-hydraulic wheelchair lift is also installed for accessibility. Extreme Duty body storage compartments provide additional space for materials. A color back-up camera system makes parking the vehicle on the route a snap. A wireless ducking microphone system and a Bluetooth head unit have also been installed along with a pair of weatherproof exterior speakers. Dual rooftop skylights provide additional light inside the bookmobile. Sliding egress windows are also included. The exterior also has a power retracting awning complete with LED lighting. Racine Public Library also went with a stowable, powder coated table which is designed to hold a Playstation and the controllers for use with the large exterior monitor. There are also rooftop solar panels installed to provide supplemental power to the truck.
Inside, custom powder coated bookshelves with a 15° slantback provide ample space for media. Two custom book trucks are also included for moving and displaying media as needed. Two portable workstation shelves are also included in the interior design. The front check out desk area has a flip up counter top as well. Custom fabricated aluminum cabinetry is utilized for durability. A 32" display monitor is ceiling mounted and can be used to show movies and other messaging inside the bookmobile. We also built and installed a cork board. A microwave and a refrigerator have been included for convenience. Custom fabricated aluminum cabinetry with adjustable shelving offer additional storage space.
A powerful generator is installed to power the truck on the route. Bright LED scene lighting is also installed. A full vehicle surge suppression system protects all of the vehicle's electronics. We also installed a Cradlepoint cellular router.
