The Palo Alto Police Department chose LDV to build their 30ft. mobile command center. Built on a Freightliner MT-55 forward control chassis, it boasts a 300HP engine and Allison 2500 EVS automatic transmission. A large front slide-out has been integrated into the vehicle’s body to increase the interior space of the front conference area. LDV’s Intel-I-Touch™ vehicle automation system has been installed for simple deployment of features such as awnings, generators, and lights as well as automating startup and shutdown procedures.
The front conference room includes a set-aside workstation with monitors and a task chair. Curbside fixed bench seating provides seating around the fixed conference tables. The streetside fixed bench seating has room for a stowable conference table to be set up when needed. The center galley is accessible from front, back and outside. It includes a microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator, and sink for comfort and convenience. An electronics rack and custom-fabricated cabinets provide storage space for both electronics and the department’s equipment.
The rear of the command post features 4 generous workstations. Loaded with monitors for video monitoring, network jacks, power outlets, communications radios, custom cabinets, task chairs, and a printer on a slide-out tray the rear is a well-equipped work area.
The exterior of the vehicle features complete emergency lighting and sirens for high visibility when traveling to a scene. Telescoping tripod lights have been added to the body for deployment when additional illumination is required at a scene. Dual heavy-duty non-locking telescoping pneumatic masts have been installed on the rear of the vehicle and feature camera systems to keep watch over the department’s surroundings. An 18’ awning has been installed on the curbside to provide cover above the curbside entryway.
