The Oshkosh Police Department chose a Ford E-450 Cutaway to build their new mobile laboratory on! Powered by a Triton V10 gas engine and electronic 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive and tow/haul, this vehicle is ready to roll to any scene.
Inside the vehicle is a large aluminum roll-up door with an aluminum box pan shelf inside. A workstation sits at the front curb side of the vehicle and features a spider-base task chair with bungee for stowing during transport and duplex receptacle. A framed dry erase board sits off to the side as well. Custom-fabricated cabinets can be found overhead with dry erase writing surfaces. A counter area with laminate countertop for durability houses a 2.7 cu. ft. refrigerator and additional custom cabinet. At the back is a fixed bench seat with removable cushion for additional storage space. For night operations, Oshkosh can switch between regular lighting and "Night Light" mode.
The exterior has multiple compartments integrated into the body for storage. Two telescoping tripod LED light poles have been mounted to the back with quick release truck mount brackets. Two more telescoping LED light poles have been side-mounted and include a locking swivel joint so the head can be manually tilted up and down as needed. On the back is a flip-down step bolted onto Diamond back open grating step surface. A 5.5kW generator has been mounted in its own custom-fabricated all-aluminum compartment. HVAC duties are handled by a low-profile air conditioner and a a wall mount 5,120 Btu/hr electric heater. Finishing off the exterior is a complete emergency lights and siren package.
