Oakland Police Department (CA) Mobile Command Center

VEHICLE OVERVIEW

Oakland Police Department in California just took delivery of this new mobile command center! They chose an LDV stock series built on a Freightliner MT-55 forward control chassis with a Cummins B6 6.7 engine and Allison 2200 HS automatic transmission. Assisting with parking duties is a color backup camera system. In the cab area is a custom-fabricated housing for the vehicles electrical distribution components. Upon entering the vehicle are three workstations on the driver side wall. A large 43" LED TV and magnetic whiteboard have also been added to this side. In the corner is another single workstation with a whiteboard as well. The center of the vehicle features custom-fabricated closets, an electronics rack, and slide-out tray which has been outfitted with prewire and installation provisions for a customer-supplied printer/scanner/fax machine. At the rear of the mobile command center is a conference area with a stowable conference table and fixed bench seating with removable cushions for additional storage. A 43" LED TV has been installed above the additional flip-down bench seating as well. The countertops and conference table top are laminate for durability. A flush pocket door installed on a heavy duty aluminum track has been added, creating privacy between the rear and front areas when needed. RJ-45 Cat6 network jacks were installed throughout the entire vehicle along with a Cradlepoint cellular router. For power, a shore power package has been installed along with an ACData surge suppressor to protection the entire AC power system. The exterior features a weatherproof single door workstation with a 50" LED TV, internal flip down work surface, LED strip light, duplex receptacle with USB, and an HDMI input. Four IP perimeter cameras help Oakland keep watch of the vehicle's surroundings while at a scene. Supplying electric power to the vehicle is a 12-kW diesel generator in a custom-fabricated compartment. Prewire and installation provisions have been made for a customer installed mast, communications radio, and fixed wireless terminal. An automatic electric awning has also been installed on the exterior of the vehicle, providing shade for those utilizing the exterior workstation.

"I was very satisfied with the whole experience and process. I believe that the sales personnel and technicians are very knowledgeable and have years of institutional knowledge that shows in the execution of the unit. My questions were all ways answered immediately and if there was any reach back for additional confirmation it was always followed up with a phone call and email. The open lines of communication provided both of us the full awareness of where we were in the build process and helped eliminate unnecessary delays or unanswered questions. Everyone I encountered during my visits were always smiling and happy while working, which was great to see and experience. This is reflected in the finished product that was noticed by my staff and all others that have visited to see the new addition to our fleet."
