The New Hampshire State Police chose LDV to create their mobile crime laboratory vehicle. Built on a Kenworth T270 chassis, this vehicle boasts an Allison 2500HS 5-speed transmission along with rear air ride and air brakes. A manually operated exterior entry step has been added for simple entry into the vehicle. The rear bumper also features an integrated step well and kickplate for easy access through the rear entry door.
Inside, the vehicle includes stainless steel countertops for durability and protection against any materials used for lab testing. Custom-fabricated aluminum cabinets provide ample storage throughout the entire interior. Multiple box pans shelves provide infinite adjustability to accommodate any sized equipment and are protected by satin anodized roll-up doors. Blackout curtains provide additional privacy for those working inside. Two workstations are found at the front with a 26” monitor between them as well as aluminum cabinets with undercabinet LED lighting, network connections, and task chairs. There is also a galley kitchen with hand-pump galley water system and a 2.7 cu. ft. refrigerator. Pre-wire and installation provisions have been made for communications radios.
On the exterior, an electric awning keeps cover of the curbside entry door. Four telescoping tripod light poles can be found around the exterior as well. For HVAC duties, two low-profile air conditioners and a direct discharge diesel-fired furnace keep the temperature comfortable. An emergency lights and siren package has been integrated for high visibility when traveling to a scene. To assist with parking, a color backup camera system has also been added. To provide electric power, a 12-kW generator has been integrated in its own custom-fabricated all-aluminum compartment.
