National Grid (NY) chose LDV to build their new mobile command center on a Freightliner M2. This impressive mobile command center includes three industry-exclusive flat-floor slide-outs to maximize the interior space for the National Grid staff. A set of slide out and fold down steps has been integrated into the body via a storage compartment while an adjustable custom handrail can be set up for safety. A custom-fabricated door holder holds the curbside entry door open when needed. LDV's exclusive Intel-I-Touch™ vehicle automation system automates the startup and shutdown procedures for this vehicle as well as controlling the deployment of the slide-outs, the generator, HVAC, lighting, and more.
At the front of the vehicle is a work area with three workstations on the streetside wall. Along the curbside wall is another work station, countertop area with a printer, and a slide-out tray for an HP Multifunction Printer. On the front wall is a 43" 4K UHD TV while each workstation has its own 24" LED HDTV monitor. Solid surface countertops have been used throughout the vehicle for durability. In the center of the vehicle is a galley area with a 2.7cu. ft. refrigerator and custom-fabricated cabinets, an electronics rack, and an onboard lavatory with a sink, toilet, mirror, and pressurized water system. The rear of the vehicle features a fixed conference table with seating for six. On the rear wall is a 65" MondoPad Ultra screen for use during meetings or for keeping watch on the vehicle's surroundings via the mast camera. Two spider-base chairs can be secured to the table with a strap while the remaining four chairs are secured to the wall with brackets during transport. Above these four chairs are two 28" LED HDTV monitors and a framed magnetic white board. Along the curbside wall is fixed bench seating with removable cushions for storage and two smaller fixed tables. To create privacy when needed, a 30" pocket door has been installed on a heavy-duty aluminum track. The front side is FRP while the rear side of the door inside the conference room is covered in carpet. The exterior of this vehicle includes a heavy-duty non-locking telescoping pneumatic mast with a dome network camera and Lightfinder technology. Next to this is a ladder for rooftop access when needed. A weatherproof exterior workstation is found by the curbside door. This station includes a 50" HDR LED Smart HDTV, HDMI matrix switcher, RJ-45 Cat6 network jacks, and mini Intel-I-Touch pad. Multiple underbody storage compartments have been integrated into the body for additional storage space. A fully automatic vehicle leveling system ensures the mobile command center will sit level no matter what the terrain at a scene may be. Amber lights have been integrated throughout the body of the vehicle. To assist with parking duties, a color backup camera system has been installed as well.
