LDV worked with Mountain View Police Department to design and build a SWAT team vehicle on a Freightliner MT55 forward control chassis. The vehicle is a 26' long all aluminum step van body. The interior features ample custom-fabricated aluminum cabinets for equipment storage. Dry erase surfaces have been added to the cabinets as well for dual functionality. These cabinets hold aluminum box pan shelves configured vertically and horizontally for different types of equipment. Satin anodized roll-up doors house the ammunition storage cabinets.
The exterior features a weatherproof exterior workstation with LCD monitor, flip-down desk, storage for a communications gear bag, and a laptop. Also for those working outside is a removable magnetic porcelain marker board to affix to the truck when needed. A flip down step on the bumper provides staff a simple way to enter through the dual rear doors. HVAC is handled by a low-profile air conditioner and a wall mount electric heater. An electric awning can be found on both sides of the vehicle for coverage. A telescoping tripod light can also be found on each side of the vehicle for illuminating a scene.
