The Miami Police Department just took delivery of their new LDV-built mobile command center. Their vehicle is built on a Freightliner M2 tandem rear axle chassis with an all aluminum dry van body. The command vehicle has four industry exclusive LDV-fabricated flat-floor slide-outs for exterior interior workspace. Vehicle start-up and shutdown is simplified by dual Intel-I-Touch vehicle automation touchscreens. On the exterior, a custom built weatherproof exterior workstation houses a SunBrite 4K display. The rear of the vehicle boasts a telescoping pneumatic mast with perimeter cameras. On the roof is an auto-acquire satellite for communications as well as an HDTV satellite. A Will-Burt Night Scan provides illumination around the vehicle after dark. Staff can access the vehicle from both the curbside and the rear with custom stowaway aluminum staircases houses within a custom cassette.
A large awning provides shade while working outside the vehicle. Generous heavy-duty storage compartments were integrated into the body. On scene, the vehicle can be leveled with the automatic vehicle leveling system. A 25kw liquid-cooled diesel generator provides electric power for the vehicle. AC systems are protected by a full vehicle surge suppression system.
Inside, there are three work areas: A front conference room, rear workstation/conference area and a rear-most workstation/dispatch area. In the front conference area, there is a fixed conference table with stowable task chairs, flip-down bench seating, aluminum cabinets and corner workstations. In the center of the vehicle is the electronics rack, Intel-I-Touch™ vehicle automation touchscreen and additional cabinets. In the rear is a dedicated work area with solid surface counter tops, a slide-out printer tray, magnetic dry erase white boards and a stowable conference table. At the very rear are more workstations. All areas feature pocket doors for privacy.
