LDV worked with the Miami Police Department to design, engineer and manufacture this mobile command center on a Freightliner M2 106 Conventional Chassis with a custom 18' long all aluminum dry van body. It also features air ride and air brakes, a 280HP engine, and a 3000 EVS transmission.
The interior of this unit features a galley with a 2.7 cu. ft. refrigerator, custom-fabricated aluminum cabinets, two workstation areas and a robot area in the rear of the vehicle. For deployment of the department’s robot, a bi-fold aluminum collapsible fold-out ramp has been installed. A satin anodized aluminum roll-up door has been installed for easy deployment of the robot's ramp. Communications and technology in this vehicle include 19" & 26" LCD TV’s with a weatherproof exterior access door, DVD burners, omni-directional antenna and prewiring for radios. The shelves inside the closet are infinitely adjustable and a heavy-duty hanging rod has also been added for storing the department’s bomb suits.
The exterior of the unit features a heavy-duty non-locking telescoping pneumatic mast with a camera, a 17' awning, roof access ladder, and four-point fully automatic one-touch leveling system. An automatic electric step provides easy access to enter the vehicle with an automatic courtesy light on the side of the entry door. To provide electric power to the vehicle, an 8-kW diesel generator has been installed in its own custom housing. A bomb suit storage compartment has also been added to the exterior to provide staff with easy access to the necessary equipment. Also on the exterior is a weatherproof exterior LCD monitor to aid those working outside the vehicle.
