McAllen Police Department (TX) Mobile Command Center

VEHICLE OVERVIEW

This recent mobile command center build for McAllen Police Department in Texas features a 22-foot all aluminum body on a Freightliner MT-55G gasoline chassis. The vehicle is powered by a TQS V8 engine with 308HP and has an Allison 2200HS automatic transmission with park pawl and PTO provision. We integrated several custom fabricated compartments including one at the rear to control the rear mounted pneumatic mast and vehicle leveling system. The mast features a dome network IP camera with LightFinder Technology. An HDMI video decoder has also been installed. A custom flip down rear step offers easy access to the interior of the mobile command center. A complete emergency lighting and siren package has been installed along with bright LED scene lighting. A color backup camera system has also been installed to help with parking maneuvers. Four IP cameras have been installed for perimeter surveillance. A digital HDTV antenna with SureLock DTV signal meter has been installed on the roof.

Inside, the vehicle features a front conference room with fixed collaboration table, fixed bench seating and flip down bench seating. Two 50" high resolution display monitors have also been installed in this front area. We also custom fabricated a magnetic surface dry erase white board for the curbside interior wall. Interior lighting is LED throughout. The center of the vehicle houses the galley complete with microwave, refrigerator and Keurig® coffee maker. A large storage closet has also been installed for gear storage. A small rack is installed for the customer's electronics equipment.

The lavatory features a cassette toilet and Sani-Dex Antimicrobial hand wipe canister. The rear of the vehicle features dual workstations, each with a spider base task chair and a shared 32" high resolution display monitor. The streetside wall has a café-style table with two additional seats.

A powerful 15kW liquid-cooled gasoline generator in a custom fabricated compartment supplies plenty of electric power to the vehicle. A full vehicle surge suppression system has also been installed. We prewired the vehicle for the customer's radios. There is also a cell phone booster kit installed in the mobile command center. CAT6 network wiring and jacks are utilized throughout the vehicle. A lateral arm awning has also been installed to provide shade when needed.

"I was very satisfied with the whole experience and process. I believe that the sales personnel and technicians are very knowledgeable and have years of institutional knowledge that shows in the execution of the unit. My questions were all ways answered immediately and if there was any reach back for additional confirmation it was always followed up with a phone call and email. The open lines of communication provided both of us the full awareness of where we were in the build process and helped eliminate unnecessary delays or unanswered questions. Everyone I encountered during my visits were always smiling and happy while working, which was great to see and experience. This is reflected in the finished product that was noticed by my staff and all others that have visited to see the new addition to our fleet."

The best feature of the vehicle is the flush floor slide-out in the front of the vehicle. It provides a very functional work area and always receives favorable comments.
