This 34' dive team response unit boasts ample storage with easy access to gear. The Massachusetts State Police chose a Freightliner MT-55 for their dive unit. It features a 260HP engine and an Allison 2200 EVS automatic transmission with park pawl with PTO provision.
The forward room has a workstation with task chair, custom overhead cabinets, custom dry erase board, duplex receptacles, 15A-12Vdc power outlets, and pre-wire and installation provisions made for a communications radio. Two custom-fabricated four gun lockers have been installed for housing the department’s weapons. A storage area for twelve scuba/SCBA tanks has also been incorporated. There are two large custom-fabricated fixed bench seats, one that has removable cushions for storage and one that can lay flat to become a sleeping area. Laminate countertops have been used throughout the vehicle for durability. The rear has more adjustable shelving and storage for cascade bottles, and tall storage.
The exterior features an 18’ electric awning to cover those working outside the vehicle. Four telescoping tripod light poles have been installed around the exterior of the vehicle for illuminating a scene, especially during night operations. Satin anodized aluminum finish roll-up doors have been installed to keep equipment stored on the exterior safe during transit. Dual rear entry doors provide an additional point of entry into the vehicle.
