Louisville Metro Police Department of Kentucky chose LDV to build their new mobile command center. Built on a Freightliner MT-55 forward control chassis with an Allison 2200 EVS automatic transmission with park pawl and PTO provision and a Cummins 260HP engine. Extreme duty storage compartments have been integrated into the body as well, providing additional storage space. The vehicle also features one of LDV's industry-exclusive flat-floor slide-outs to maximize the space inside the vehicle. To deploy this slide-out as well as lights, HVAC, and other vehicle systems, Louisville Metro PD added LDV's Intel-I-Touch™ vehicle automation system which allows them to control these features with the touch of a button.
Inside, a front conference area features a fixed conference table with fold-down leaf, fixed bench seating with removable cushions for extra storage, and flip-down bench seating with mounts for the spider base task chairs when not in use. There is a 50" QLED UHD Smart HDTV monitor on the curb side and street side of the vehicle, both of which are flanked by two framed magnetic white boards. More of the framed magnetic white boards can be found throughout the vehicle as well.
The center of the vehicle features a galley area complete with microwave, 2.7 cu.ft. refrigerator, and a coffee maker. Custom-fabricated aluminum cabinets have also been installed, including a slide-out tray for a printer/scanner/fax machine to sit on. Floor-to-ceiling aluminum closets can also be found in this center area. At the rear of the vehicle are four workstations each with a spider base task chair. There are multiple overhead cabinets with dry erase writing surfaces for storage and convenience. When needed, the vehicle's lighting can also be changed to reduced lighting mode or night time (red) lighting mode.
Providing shade for those using the weatherproof workstation is an automatic awning. A 20-kW liquid-cooled diesel generator has been installed in a custom-fabricated compartment. The weatherproof exterior work station features a TV/monitor compartment, flip down work surface, LED strip light, and an HDMI matrix switcher. HVAC in the vehicle is handled by two low-profile air conditioners and two wall mount 5,120 BTU/hr electric heaters. Ensuring the vehicle is level at any scene is a heavy-duty four-point vehicle leveling system. Prewire and installation provisions have also been made for the customer to install their mast on the vehicle.
