Long Beach Police Department Mobile Command Center

VEHICLE OVERVIEW

The Long Beach Police Department chose a Freightliner M2 for their mobile command center. It features a 300HP engine and Allison 3000 EVS automatic transmission with PTO provision. Three flat-floor slide-out rooms have been integrated into the body to provide additional interior space when deployed. This truck is also equipped with the LDV Intel-I-Touch™ multiplex electrical system and is ready for almost any incident imaginable.

This Fema Type II Mobile EOC includes four dispatch stations with three 22" LED monitors at each position, a supervisor's desk and a private conference room that can seat up to eight people. In addition to the fully outfitted dispatch stations this truck has satellite broadband capabilities, microwave downlinks, phone system with VOIP and cellular capabilities, and a large interactive whiteboard. The certified CAT6 computer network has 4G connectivity, public safety Wi-Fi mesh outdoor access point, cradle point, 24" plotter and multi-function printer.

The extensive audio/video capabilities include a mast mounted camera system, perimeter surveillance cameras, exterior viewable TV, 4-channel DVR, and DirecTV receivers all interfaced to the onboard modulated video system. There is also an exterior galley to help alleviate personnel traffic inside the vehicle. A swing out and down vehicle ladder provides access to the rooftop when needed. Two generous awnings have been installed to cover the exterior workstation which includes a TV monitor, communications radio, telephone, power outlets, and network jacks.

"I was very satisfied with the whole experience and process. I believe that the sales personnel and technicians are very knowledgeable and have years of institutional knowledge that shows in the execution of the unit. My questions were all ways answered immediately and if there was any reach back for additional confirmation it was always followed up with a phone call and email. The open lines of communication provided both of us the full awareness of where we were in the build process and helped eliminate unnecessary delays or unanswered questions. Everyone I encountered during my visits were always smiling and happy while working, which was great to see and experience. This is reflected in the finished product that was noticed by my staff and all others that have visited to see the new addition to our fleet."
