Long Beach Fire Department (CA) Mobile Command Center

VEHICLE OVERVIEW

This mobile command center was built for the Long Beach Fire Department in California and features a Freightliner M2 106 conventional cab chassis with tandem rear axles and an all aluminum body construction. The command center is powered by a CUMMINS L9 350HP diesel engine with an Allison 3000 EVS automatic transmission with PTO provision. We custom fabricated four flat floor slide-outs to integrate into the body. Vehicle deployment is simplified thanks to our Intel-I-Touch™ vehicle automation system. The command center also has a vehicle leveling system installed to stabilize it while deployed. We added custom pull out aluminum stairs for entry into the vehicle and there is a TriMark keyless entry system installed. The cab area has a RAM Mount laptop mount along with a custom center console. The exterior also has a weatherproof exterior workstation/monitor compartment with a SunBrite 43" 4K Ultra display and soundbar along with a charging station for small electronics. Our Extreme Duty body storage compartments have been added to the body for gear storage. One of the exterior compartments doubles as a galley with a microwave and Keurig® coffee maker. A non-locking rear pneumatic mast with perimeter surveillance camera equipment has also been added.

The interior of the vehicle has a functional layout with a front work room along with a center height-adjustable table. The front wall has a 55" LED touchpanel monitor. The side walls each have dual 32" display monitors along with dual 24" monitors at each workstation. Spider base task chairs are included for staff members. Magnetic soft closure pocket doors provide privacy. The center of the vehicle has dual electronics racks for the installed equipment along with a multi-function printer. Counter tops are durable solid surface.

The rear of the vehicle has flip down bench seating with flip down work tables. Three 43" display monitors are wall mounted to the streetside wall. The curbside has two additional workstations. The rear workstation has dual 24" display monitors. Custom fabricated aluminum cabinets provide additional gear storage. Overhead cabinets have dry erase writing surface. The rear wall of the vehicle has a 43" display monitor and magnetic surface dry erase white boards.

A powerful 25kW liquid cooled diesel generator supplies plenty of electric power to the vehicle. A full vehicle surge suppression system protects all of the vehicle's installed electronics. We also fitted the vehicle with a Will-Burt Night Scan LED light tower for night operations. Bright LED scene lights are included along with a complete emergency lighting and siren package. A Winegard DirecTV Slimline Automatic Satellite System is installed. We also included 4 perimeter IP cameras around the vehicle for situational awareness. An Extron ShareLink Pro 500 Series Wireless Collaboration Gateway is installed along with a 16x16 HDMI Matrix Switcher to handle all of the input sources throughout the vehicle.

"I was very satisfied with the whole experience and process. I believe that the sales personnel and technicians are very knowledgeable and have years of institutional knowledge that shows in the execution of the unit. My questions were all ways answered immediately and if there was any reach back for additional confirmation it was always followed up with a phone call and email. The open lines of communication provided both of us the full awareness of where we were in the build process and helped eliminate unnecessary delays or unanswered questions. Everyone I encountered during my visits were always smiling and happy while working, which was great to see and experience. This is reflected in the finished product that was noticed by my staff and all others that have visited to see the new addition to our fleet."
