The Linn County Sheriff had LDV upfit a Ford Transit to create a field investigations vehicle for their department. Built on a Ford Transit 350 HR gas van platform, this is a well-laid out mobile crime lab. It is powered by a 3.5L GTDI V6 engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Custom-fabricated aluminum cabinets have been integrated throughout the vehicle for interior storage. VersaTie tracks have been recessed into the floor along with VersaTie tie-down rings. A sit-down workstation includes a swivel task chair, under cabinet lighting, and (4) duplex receptacles. To keep the task chair from rolling off the stepwell, a roll-stop lip has been added to the stepwell's edge. A stand-up workstation has also been added including (2) duplex receptacles and mesh cargo netting above it. Dry erase boards have been added for use while on a scene as well.
The exterior features a pull-out step with Diamondback extruded aluminum grating and framed with powdercoated steel by the sliding side door. Dual rear entry doors provide another point of access to the vehicle. Custom graphics finish off the exterior as well.
