We recently completed this new mobile command center for the Lexington Police Department in Kentucky. Built on a Freightliner MT-55 forward control chassis, the command center features a CUMMINS B6.7L diesel engine, 300HP and an Allison 2500EVS automatic transmission. The all aluminum body has 3 LDV-fabricated flat floor slide-outs for additional interior workspace. A rear telescoping pneumatic mask with dome network IP surveillance camera is also installed on the rear of the vehicle. An exterior compartment with cord reel on a slide out is also integrated into the body. We also included a large Extreme Duty body storage compartment. There is a rooftop ladder installed on the rear of the vehicle as well. The vehicle is also equipped with a leveling system. A flip down rear aluminum step is also installed for entry.
Inside, the vehicle has a front conference/collaboration room with fixed center table and six (6) spider base task chairs. There are flip down bench seats for additional staff members in each side out as well. Each slide out has a wall mounted 50" display monitor. The center of the vehicle has workstations and a lavatory with pressurized water supply. A storage cabinet as well as a galley are also included. The galley consists of a small refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. Two of our Intel-I-Touch™ vehicle automation touchscreens are also included in the design of the command vehicle. A large electronics rack houses all of the installed equipment in the command center. We also installed a closet with adjustable shelving. Magnetic closure pocket doors provide privacy when needed.
The rear of the vehicle has three workstations, each with a spider base task chair. Custom fabricated aluminum cabinetry provides ample storage space. Overhead cabinets have dry erase writing surface.
HVAC duties are handled by four low profile rooftop A/C units with wall thermostat. There are also three wall mounted electric heaters. A 20kW liquid-cooled diesel generator supplied plenty of electric power to the command center. Electronics are protected by a full vehicle surge suppression system.
