Lenexa Police Department (KS) Mobile Command Center

VEHICLE OVERVIEW

The Lenexa Police Department of Kansas just took delivery of their new mobile command center. This Freightliner M2 106 conventional chassis is powered by a Cummins L9 350EV HP engine and has an Allison 3000 EVS automatic transmission. The vehicle is a 30' dry van wide body and boasts a 39,000 lb. GVWR. LDV's exclusive Intel-I-Touch™ system allows for one-touch deployment and shutdown of the mobile command center's systems and features.

Two flat-floor slide-out rooms create maximum interior space in this mobile command center for the front conference area which includes four work stations, a fixed conference table, custom-fabricated aluminum cabinets, multiple monitors, and flip-down bench seating. The fixed conference table has a powder coated base that also includes USB charging ports, Cat6 computer network jacks, an HDMI input jack, computer cable pass-thru grommets, and a solid surface countertop. Magnetic dry erase boards are framed in aluminum throughout the interior. In the center of the vehicle, a galley kitchen includes a coffee maker, microwave, and refrigerator. Storage cabinets with a slide-out tray for a printer/copier/scanner also sit in the center. The lavatory features a pressurized water system along with a custom-fabricated aluminum cabinet, low-profile toilet, and a wall-mounted hand sanitizer dispenser. An electronics rack on a caster base allows the rack to easily slide out from its position, allowing side access to the rack equipment. The rear work area includes two workstations, a fixed table with two seats, aluminum cabinets, and a closet in the corner for additional storage.

On the exterior, a weatherproof exterior workstation features a TV monitor, GFCI outlet, GFCI duplex receptacle, provisions for dual head communications radio, a customer-provided VOIP phone, and two Cat6 computer network jacks. The lavatory is accessed through a rear-access door and features an additional intermediate aluminum step to reduce the step height from the bumper to the floor. A 36" wide aluminum flip-down step is also fixed onto the rear bumper with diamondback planking step surface. An exterior custom-fabricated generator box houses a 25-kW liquid-cooled diesel generator. HVAC needs are taken care of by two power roof ventilators, three ducted low-profile air conditioners, two electric heaters, and a 12,000-16,000 Btu/hr direct discharge diesel-fired furnace with individual thermostat control. For the exterior workstation and curbside access door, an electric awning provides coverage. Two Whelen telescoping tripod LED light poles flank each side of the mobile command center while a heavy-duty non-locking telescoping pneumatic mast has been mounted to the rear. A heavy-duty automatic one-touch vehicle leveling system affords Lenexa the ability to level their vehicle on whatever terrain they may park on.

"I was very satisfied with the whole experience and process. I believe that the sales personnel and technicians are very knowledgeable and have years of institutional knowledge that shows in the execution of the unit. My questions were all ways answered immediately and if there was any reach back for additional confirmation it was always followed up with a phone call and email. The open lines of communication provided both of us the full awareness of where we were in the build process and helped eliminate unnecessary delays or unanswered questions. Everyone I encountered during my visits were always smiling and happy while working, which was great to see and experience. This is reflected in the finished product that was noticed by my staff and all others that have visited to see the new addition to our fleet."
