Knox County EMA out of Indiana chose LDV to create their new mobile command center on a Freightliner MT-55 forward control chassis. Powered by a Cummins 240HP engine and Allisons 2200 HS automatic transmission with park pawl with PTO provision, this vehicle is ready to be out and about at a scene. For entry through the curbside access door, a 30" automatic electric steel entry step has been installed along with an automatic LED courtesy light to illuminate the entryway.
Upon entering the vehicle, there are four workstations for staff to utilize while at a scene. Each workstation includes a spider-base task chair with straps for use during transport and RJ-45 Cat6 network connections. The street side workstations feature multiple computer monitors and a 32" LED 1080P HDR Smart TV while the curbside workstation includes a framed magnetic whiteboard. A 43" monitor has been mounted to the curbside wall as well.
Blackout curtains have been included in the cab area for privacy when needed. A flush pocket door can also create separation between the front and rear areas when needed and has been installed on a heavy-duty aluminum track. Custom-fabricated aluminum closets provide storage space along with adjustable shelves to accommodate Knox County's storage needs at any time. There is also another electronics rack located across from these cabinets along with a printer that sits on a slide-out tray for easy access and maintenance when needed.
In the rear is a collaboration space that includes another workstation and pedestal conference table. The workstation features network connections and an electronics rack featuring multiple communications radios. Fixed bench seating with removable cushions provides additional storage to the rear area of the vehicle. The pedestal conference table can be stowed utilizing straps on the rear wall during transport while the pedestal legs can be stored in the custom aluminum cabinet. Pre-wire and installation provisions have been made for communications radios as well.
The exterior features a customer-supplied mast that has been installed on the rear of the vehicle. It also features a 12-kW diesel generator that has been mounted in its own custom-fabricated compartment. HVAC is handled by two low-profile air conditioners, 1 wall-mount 5,120 Btu/hr electric heater, and a diesel-fired furnace with individual thermostat inside a fuel-fired furnace cabinet. A 30" wide flip-down step has been installed on the rear bumper with a Diamondback open grating step surface for easy access to the dual rear entry doors. These dual rear entry doors feature heavy-duty fluted aluminum grab handles with rubber inserts for safe entry as well. Emergency lights finish off the exterior along with Knox County's colorful graphics.
