The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office chose a Freightliner M2 106 conventional cab for their new mobile command center. This vehicle features a Cummins B6.7 300HP engine and Allison 2500 EVS automatic transmission with PTO provision. Jefferson County chose to integrate one industry-exclusive flat-floor slide-out room to maximize their interior work space. This slide-out along with other vehicle systems and features is controlled by LDV’s Intel-I-Touch™ vehicle automation system which can automate start-up and shutdown procedures with the touch of a button.
Inside, the front features a conference area with a conference table that has been installed partially inside the slide-out, providing space for those utilizing the table and to wall-mount two monitors. The rear area features two workstations which include a monitor, communications radio, network connections, and spider-base task chairs. Custom-fabricated aluminum cabinets provide storage space inside the vehicle. A slide-out printer tray has also been added towards the front for easy access to the printer. One flush pocket door has been installed on a heavy-duty track to provide separation and privacy when needed. A galley kitchen area has also been added and features a microwave, coffee maker, and 2.7 cu. ft. refrigerator.
The exterior features an 18’ automatic awning and heavy-duty non-locking telescoping pneumatic mast. A weatherproof exterior workstation has also been integrated into the body and features a flip-down work surface, LED strip light, and monitor. A 20-kW liquid-cooled diesel generator has been installed in a custom-fabricated compartment.
