We recently completed these two custom bookmobiles for the James V Brown Library in Pennsylvania. One has been designed for children and the other for adults. Each bookmobile is built on a Ford E-450 cutaway base SD chassis and features a Triton 7.3L gasoline V8 engine with automatic transmission. Each bookmobile has an electric-hydraulic wheelchair lift added for accessibility. We integrated one of our Extreme Duty body storage compartments into each bookmobile as well. Entry into the vehicle is by curbside entry door with LED courtesy light. Inside, durable powder coated bookshelves have been added for media. The children's version of the vehicle has book bins down low for smaller patrons. A desk area with spider base task chair has been included to be used as a check out area. A custom aluminum cabinet and a storage closet is included in each vehicle as well. Magnetic surface dry erase white boards are installed as well. Bright LED lighting is part of the interior. Acrylic skylights have been installed to allow more natural light into the interior. A patron book drop box has also been added near the entry door for convenience. A powerful 7kW generator supplies plenty of electric power to the vehicle. All vehicle electrical systems are protected by a full vehicle surge suppression system within each truck. A low profile rooftop A/C unit handle the cooling duties. CAT6 network wiring and jacks are utilized throughout as well.
