The Hutchinson Police Department of Minnesota chose a Ram 5500 chassis to build their mobile SWAT vehicle on. The vehicle features Whelen emergency lighting and sirens for high visibility when traveling to a scene. A flip-down step has been bolted onto the rear bumper for access into the vehicle. It also features Diamondback open grating to help keep the step free from debris.
Inside there is flip-down bench seating for staff to use for seating. A weapons cabinet has been installed with a lockable roll-up door along with rifle mounts and an ammunitions storage drawer. More storage sections include adjustable box pan shelves and mesh cargo netting to protect gear during transit. Prewire and installation provisions were made for customer installed radios.
Providing shade outside the vehicle when needed is a 10ft. electric awning. A Zone Defense back-up camera system has been installed to assist with parking duties. HVAC is handled by a 13,600 BTU direct discharge gasoline-fired furnace and an engine-driven air conditioning system. Exterior tall storage compartments have been integrated into the vehicle's body to provide additional storage space while outside the truck.
