Houston Public Library had us build this new mobile classroom for their outreach program. HPL's vehicle is built on an LDV custom coach chassis and features a Ford 6.8L Triton V10 with an automatic transmission. The vehicle has 2 flat-floor slide-outs with sliding egress windows to maximize the available interior space for the mobile classroom with dual curbside entry doors. A Broan Century electric-hydraulic wheelchair lift was included for accessibility.
INTERIOR Inside, Houston Public Library's vehicle has durable laminate workspaces with caster-base task chairs, 3 rolling tables that are secured to the streetside interior wall with convenient thumbscrews for more working space, 2 fixed counters with task chairs, hinged fixed bench seating for 3 staff members complete with seatbelts, a rear galley with microwave and refrigerator and aluminum storage cabinets. 18 task chairs in all are included in the design. The overhead cabinets have dry erase writing surfaces.
In the rear storage cabinet is a printer on a custom slide-out tray. Two 49" LED Smart TVs and a 55" LED Smart TV with a touchpanel overlay were included in the vehicle design. A matrix switcher simplifies multiple video sources. An AXIS PTZ HD network camera system is also installed in the interior. RJ-45 CAT6 computer network jacks with CAT6 wiring routed through raceway was also utilized.
A 65" 4K HDR LED Smart TV was installed in a weatherpoof exterior housing on the outside of the vehicle. HVAC is handled by 3 low-profile rooftop A/C units with wall-mounted thermostat. A Wrico 15kW generator provides electric power for the classroom. A full-vehicle surge suppressor was also integrated.
