Hoover's custom EOD response vehicle is outfitted for maximum storage and built to be multipurpose. The department chose a Ford F-550 XL regular cab diesel truck chassis for its versatility. Crawl through access has been made from the cab to the body and features a blackout curtain for privacy.
The curbside entry opens to a galley, spacious workstation and box pan shelving for storage. A satin anodized aluminum finish roll-up door has been installed on the rear of the vehicle for the bi-fold aluminum collapsible fold-out ramp to deploy the department’s bomb robot. The base of the storage shelving has custom fold-away bench seating affixed. The rear of the vehicle is home to more storage with mesh netting on one half and roll-up doors on the other.
The exterior includes a weatherproof compartment with an LCD monitor for staff who may have to work outside. An automatic electric steel entry step has been added underneath the curbside entry door. Emergency lights line the exterior of the vehicle as well. Telescoping remote angle light poles are stores on the exterior and can be taken down to illuminate a scene. A 12-kW generator sits in a custom generator housing. To provide coverage for staff working outside or using the exterior LCD monitor, an electric awning has been integrated as well.
