Hidalgo County (TX) Mobile Command Center

VEHICLE OVERVIEW

Hidalgo County in Texas chose LDV for their new mobile command center. This vehicle is a great example of an organization utilizing one of our stock series vehicles to make it their own for their department. Built on a Freightliner MT-55 forward control chassis, it boasts a Cummins B6.7L diesel engine, an Allison 2200 EVS automatic transmission, and rear air suspension along with so much more. The 26ft. long all aluminum body also features one custom-fabricated flat-floor slide-out, which maximizes the interior space of the vehicle when needed. This feature along with other vehicle features and systems including HVAC, generators, awnings, and more can be deployed through the push of a button via LDV's Intel-I-Touch™ vehicle automation system.

The inside of the vehicle features a front conference room with a flip-down table. Three spider-base task chairs can be set up at the table for additional seating when needed for collaboration. On the curbside wall is a monitor and flip-down benches for additional seating. Fixed bench seating has been affixed to the street side and features removable cushions for additional storage space as well. Above this is a framed magnetic dry erase board. A flush pocket door with magnetic closure has also been installed, allowing Hidalgo's staff to create privacy and separate from the rest of the vehicle when needed.

The center features a galley with a 1.1 cu. ft. microwave, a 2.7 cu. ft. refrigerator, and a Keurig® coffee maker. Custom-fabricated cabinets and closets are also located in this area along with a generous electronics rack. Laminate countertops have been used throughout for durability. Red interior lighting can be used when deployed for covert night operations. At the rear of the vehicle are four workstations. A monitor sits between the two workstations found on the rear wall. Custom-fabricated aluminum cabinetry with dry erase writing surfaces provide additional storage and writing spaces above the workstations. A sliding egress window with a screen provides natural light for those working in the rear area. Another framed magnetic dry erase board is also found in this area.

On the outside of the vehicle is a weatherproof exterior workstation featuring a 20A-125Vac duplex receptacle with dual USB charging ports, GFCI duplex receptacle, RJ-45 Cat6 computer network jacks, a 43" 4K Smart TV, a flip down work surface, and LED strip lights. The exterior also features multiple extreme duty body storage compartments for safe storage of equipment and gear. An emergency lighting and siren package has also been installed on the exterior as well as LED scene lights. For access to the roof when needed, an aluminum ladder has been affixed to the rear of the vehicle. Assisting with parking duties is a Zone Defense color back-up camera system. HVAC needs are handled by three ducted low-profile rooftop A/C units and two 5,120 BTU electric heaters. When electric power is needed for long deployments, a 20kW liquid-cooled diesel generator has been installed in its own custom-fabricated compartment. This vehicle is a great example of how flexible a stock series can be for any department looking to add a mobile command center or other specialty service vehicle to your fleet.

"I was very satisfied with the whole experience and process. I believe that the sales personnel and technicians are very knowledgeable and have years of institutional knowledge that shows in the execution of the unit. My questions were all ways answered immediately and if there was any reach back for additional confirmation it was always followed up with a phone call and email. The open lines of communication provided both of us the full awareness of where we were in the build process and helped eliminate unnecessary delays or unanswered questions. Everyone I encountered during my visits were always smiling and happy while working, which was great to see and experience. This is reflected in the finished product that was noticed by my staff and all others that have visited to see the new addition to our fleet."
