The Hartford Police Department took delivery of their custom dive vehicle. Hartford PD chose a Ford F450 4x2 SD regular cab chassis to build their dive vehicle on. This platform is powered by a 6.8L EFI V10 gas engine and features a TorqShift 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive.
The interior features a custom-fabricated fixed bench seating with removable cushions for additional storage space. Blackout curtains can be utilized on the side entry door window for extra privacy. Custom mesh cargo nets with thumb-lock fasteners help with additional storage. For durability, stainless steel countertops are found throughout the vehicle. Customer-supplied radios were installed for use. Two additional aluminum finish roll-up doors were integrated for additional SCUBA equipment, including custom shelving and an aluminum drip pan. Additional aluminum shelving has been added throughout the vehicle for storage as well. An Esmet ModuBox Pistol Locker with high security key locks has also been mounted to the wall for safe gun storage.
The exterior features two satin anodized aluminum finish roll-up doors that can store SCBUA dive bottles. A manual horizontal arm awning provides cover over the side entry door. For HVAC duties, a low-profile air conditioner cools the interior while a gasoline-fired furnace with individual thermostat keeps things warm in cooler weather. A 5.5kW 120 volt AC generator supplies the vehicle with electric power when needed. For towing assistance, a custom-fabricated class III receiver hitch was created. An emergency lights and siren package has also been integrated to the exterior of the vehicle.
