Harrison Police Department of New York chose a 2020 Ram 5500 with a 6.4L HEMI gas engine and 6-speed automatic transmission for their new mobile command vehicle. This 18ft. dry van body features LED scene lights and an emergency lights and siren package. The rear features a rear entry door as an additional point of access as well as a custom rear bumper with a 40" flip-down step for easy entry.
The interior features two front workstations with spider-base task chairs, network jacks, communications radios and overhead cabinets with dry erase writing surfaces. The workstations share three 32" SmartHDTV monitors between them. In the center of the vehicle is a galley kitchen with a microwave and refrigerator. Across from the galley area are additional cabinets along with a printer on a slide-out tray for simple maintenance. The rear area of the vehicle can be used as a collaboration area with a triple pedestal removable conference table to work at. There are also flip-down bench seats and fixed bench seating with removable cushions for additional storage space as well. On the curbside wall is a 43" 4K LED Smart HDTV monitor that has been mounted while a magnetic dry erase board can be found on the streetside wall of the conference area. A rear entry door provides an additional point of access to the vehicle as well.
On the exterior, a heavy-duty non-locking telescoping pneumatic mast has been installed on the rear. This mast includes a dome network camera with Lightfinder technology to help keep watch over the vehicle's surroundings. To provide electric power to the vehicle when needed, a 12kW gasoline generator has been installed. HVAC duties are handled by two low-profile rooftop A/C units and two 13,600 BTU direct discharge gasoline-fired furnaces. Assisting with parking duties is a color backup camera system to make parking the vehicle a snap.
