Harrison Library of Mississippi recently took delivery of their new custom bookmobile. This library outreach vehicle is built on a Ford E-450 commercial cutaway chassis and features a 7.3L gasoline engine with 6-speed automatic transmission. The bookmobile body is constructed of all aluminum for durability and corrosion resistance. A Braun Century 2 Series electric-hydraulic wheelchair lift is installed at the rear for accessibility. Entry into the vehicle is by swing out curbside entry door with an electric step. A sliding flush mount egress window has also been installed.
Inside, 29 durable powder coated bookshelves are installed inside the bookmobile. There is a single front workstation with two spider base task chairs. We also included a microwave overhead for convenience. Durable aluminum cabinetry is utilized. Three removable desktops made from laminate are included to use as stand up workstations. A fixed bench seat is installed at the rear of the interior for patrons. Four acrylic literature holders are also installed for media.
The HVAC system consists of two low profile rooftop A/C units with wall mounted thermostat and a gasoline-fired furnace with individual thermostat control. An Onan Commercial Quiet 7kW gas generator has been installed within a custom fabricated generator housing. Vehicle electronics are protected by a full vehicle surge suppression system. CAT6 network wiring and jacks are utilizing throughout and a Cradlepoint cellular router with roof mounted antennas has also been included in the bookmobile.
