Gulf Power (FL) Mobile Command Center

Gulf Power (FL) had LDV create their new mobile command center! Part of Florida's "clean fleet", this biodiesel vehicle is built on a Ford Transit 350 high roof extended-length cargo van chassis. The mobile command center includes a Powerstroke 185HP engine and a 6-speed electronic SelectShift automatic transmission with overdrive.

The interior features a host of customer-supplied communications radios and scanners with a custom-fabricated radio shelf affixed above the windshield. Blackout curtains provide additional privacy and shields staff from the Florida sun. LDV's exclusive Intel-I-Touch vehicle automation system provides different modes of deployment for the vehicle while also controlling different vehicle systems with the touch of a button.

Three workstations sit at the front of the vehicle. Two stations include a swivel task chair, two 24" monitors, and HDMI matrix switchers. There is also a stand-up workstation with a customer-supplied computer mounted on a slide-out tray. The passenger seat in the cab area sits on a swivel base in front of a flip-up countertop, creating another workstation as well. Solid surface countertops have been installed for durability with a Lexan cover added for additional protection. Three magnetic dry erase boards with a cork pin strip have been added along with a chrome pegboard with red lacing to hold dry erase markers and erasers. An ACData surge suppressor protects the entire AC power system. The vehicle also includes 20A-125Vac duplex receptacles, GFCI duplex receptacles, HDMI wall jacks, and a 3000 watt inverter charger among others.

The exterior features a weatherproof exterior workstation with a TV monitor. A one-touch vehicle leveling system allows the vehicle to sit level on uneven terrain. One low-profile air conditioner unit and wall-mounted 5,120 Btu/hr electric heater handle HVAC duties for the vehicle. Four network cameras have been mounted in custom-fabricated housing. To provide electric power, a 7.5-kW 120 volt AC generator has been installed in a custom-fabricated all aluminum generator housing. An electric lateral arm awning provides cover for those using the exterior workstation and features the Gulf Power logo. Dual rear doors provide another entry point as well as additional storage space. A custom-fabricated removable entry step has also been added to provide easy access to the inside of the vehicle.
