Greenfield Police Department of Massachusetts chose LDV to build their new mobile command center built on a Ford E-450 cutaway. The vehicle boasts a 7.3 V8 engine and electronic 6-speed automatic with overdrive and tow/haul. On the outside is an exterior weatherproof workstation with a TV/monitor. A cable pass through with key lock allows staff to run cables into the vehicle if needed at a scene.
Inside are three workstations with spider base task chair. Custom-fabricated aluminum cabinets provide storage, while overhead cabinets also provide additional writing space with the help of their dry erase board surfaces. A removable double pedestal table has been added for additional collaboration space when needed. Fixed bench seats not only provide seating but also additional storage under their removable cushions. Many pre-wire and installation provisions have been made for dual head communications radios, communication radios, and a customer owned 4G wireless router.
A 12' long automatic electric awning provides coverage over the curbside entry door. Providing electric power to the vehicle is 7kW 120 volt AC generator mounted in a custom-fabricated all aluminum compartment. For HVAC, Greenfield opted to include a low-profile air conditioner and two wall mount 5,120 Btu/hr electric heater.
